About
I'm Annika Rieger. Welcome to my website!
I'm an Assistant Professor of Sociology in the School of Social Sciences at Singapore Management University.
I received my Ph.D. from the Department of Sociology at Boston College in the spring of 2023. I focus on environmental sociology and political economy, specifically the corporate drivers of global environmental change. My current research projects utilize quantitative and computational methods to investigate how transnational corporations contribute and respond to climate change and how nations and international organizations might mitigate these contributions.
I have published in journals such as Social Problems, Sociology of Development, Environmental Sociology, Human Ecology Review, and Energy and Social Science Research, and I have also contributed chapters in the International Handbook of Environmental Sociology (with Juliet Schor) and the T&T Clark Companion on Christian Theology and Climate Change (with Joerg Rieger).
My research has been supported by the Morrissey Graduate School Dissertation Fellowship (AY 22-23), Clough Graduate Fellowship (AY 21-22), and the Boston College Presidential Fellowship (AY 16-21).
